Travelling to Gubbio:
The closest airports to Gubbio are served by Ryanair with flights to Ancona and Perugia.  Ancona airport is only a one hour train journey from Falconara train station (near Ancona) to Fossato di Vico train station (this is the nearest stop to Gubbio).  

For those who choose Perugia we can organize taxis from there to Casa Sangam (no public transport is available).

Further possibilities, not as convenient as the previous ones, are the airports of Rimini, Rome Ciampino and Rome Fiumicino. Rimini airport has a bus shuttle to Rimini train station, from where one can reach Fossato di Vico with a change in Ancona, in about 2:30 hrs. Roma Ciampino has a bus shuttle to Ciampino train station, from where one can reach Fossato di Vico, with a change at Roma Termini, in about 3 - 3:30 hrs. Some low cost airlines, e.g. ryanair, offer a direct bus shuttle from Rome Ciampino to the station Roma Termini in connection with their flights (details on their web pages and http://www.terravision.eu/rome_ciampino.html). Perugia airport has a bus shuttle to Perugia, where one can walk to the place from where the coach to Gubbio departs (about 2 hrs overall).

Most international airlines arrive in Fiumicino or Ciampino airports in Rome.

Bus from rome - From Tiburtina Station there is a bus to Gubbio every day excluding Sundays leaving at 16.00 and arriving in Gubbio at 19.00 (http://www.sulga.it/orari/gubbioroma.pdf).

 

Flying into Ancona

 

For those arriving in Ancona, if you are travelling by yourself (not with a group), you will have to take a bus from the airport to Falconara Marittima train station, then take a train to Fossato di Vico-Gubbio (line Ancona-Roma). In Fossato di Vico station, which is 20 km from Casa Sangam, you can either take a bus to Gubbio and then a taxi (€10) to Casa Sangam, or a taxi directly from Fossato di Vico station to Casa Sangam (approx €22) which can be organised for you. Please telephone Casa Sangam before boarding the train to let us know the time of your arrival in Fossato di Vico.  The train journey is only one hour.  The single fare is about €5.  Please contact us if you require further information.
The cost of transportation (by coach) for groups from Ancona to Casa Sangam and back to Ancona is approx. €30 (€15 each way) per person, depending on how many people there are and the size of the coach required, to be paid before your departure from Casa Sangam.

 
 

Flying into Perugia

 

For those arriving in Perugia, we can organize a taxi to pick you up. A taxi for 1-4 people costs approx. €60, and a taxi for 1-6 people costs €100. Perugia is about 40 minutes from Gubbio. There is a bus from the airport to Perugia (http://www.airport.umbria.it/). Ask the driver to stop in Piazza Partigiani and from there change bus and take the one to Gubbio

(ttp://217.141.151.2/orari/extraurbani/pdf/E001.pdf )  and ask the driver to stop in Pontedassi (6km before Gubbio, near Casa Sangam) from there we come to pick you up. Please note that there are no trains on this route.


 

Flying into Rome (Ciampino airport)

 


There is a coach from Ciampino airport to Roma Termini train station. http://www.terravision.eu/rome_ciampino.html

Then, take the line from Roma Termini to Ancona and Buy a ticket to and get off at Fossato di Vico Station (it takes about three hours). (Please see information above about travelling from the train station to Gubbio.) Please telephone Casa Sangam from Rome station before boarding a train to let us know your time of arrival in Fossato di Vico if you want us to arrange a taxi for you. The cost of train tickets for Regional trains is approx. €10 one way. The fast trains have been discontinued and the local trains take 3 hours, so landing in Rome makes your journey longer unless you are in a group and order a coach.


The cost of transportation (by coach) for groups from Rome Ciampino airport to Casa Sangam and back to Rome Ciampino airport is approx. €700 for a 16 seater bus. The cost will also depend on the size of the coach required, to be paid before your departure from Casa Sangam.


 

Flying into Rome (Fiumicino airport)

 

 

In Fiumicino airport there is a station with 2 railways

 


  • 1- goes to Termini Railway Station. The Rome-Fiumicino service departing from the Airport railway station takes about 30 minutes to reach the Termini railway station without intermediate stops. The cost is 14 euros;

  • 2- goes to Tiburtina Railway Station is the best alternative. It is possible to take a train from the Airport railway station on the Sabina-Fiumicino line (FM1) which stops in some of the main Roman railway stations (Tiburtina, Tuscolana, Ostiense, Trastevere) usually every 15 minutes, and on holidays, every 30 minutes. The cost is 8 euros.

  • From Tiburtina Station there is a bus to Gubbio every day excluding Sundays leaving at 16.00 and arriving in Gubbio at 19.00 (http://www.sulga.it/orari/gubbioroma.pdf).

  • By Bus from Fiumicino airport Departs from the Tourist Bus Park which is in front of International Arrivals Terminal 3. From Monday to Saturday leaves at 14.30 and arrives in Gubbio at 19.00.
