Casa Sangam Retreat Centre, including a beautifully-restored, stone farmhouse, is situated in the Tenuta di Fassia, acres of Umbrian countryside with splendid views over the hilltop town of Gubbio. The diet is vegetarian and all meals provided during the retreats at Casa Sangam are prepared in an atmosphere of meditation by Raja Yoga practitioners to ensure that the food is full of positive and nourishing energy, using the delicious, organic vegetables grown at its farm.
In 2007, the film director, Piero Musini was inspired to create Casa Sangam (the Meeting Home). Piero abandoned his career as an advertising manager and documentary producer, moving to Gubbio to open the Retreat Centre (for people wishing to learn more about the philosophy of a spiritual lifestyle, as followed by the Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University (BKWSU) in Mount Abu, India). In addition, Piero has continued to travel to India and around the world for the past 18 years, practicing and teaching Raja Yoga Meditaion techniques. The land surrounding the retreat centre includes three lakes and woodland with protected flora and fauna where one can soak up the serene and peaceful atmosphere. Organic farming is carried out on the land and another area has recently been farmed using an innovative method: sustainable yogic agriculture, the first of its kind in Europe.
The Agritourism Tenuta di Fassia rents out a variety of self-contained apartments which cater for between 2 to 6 people. However, those residing at the Tenuta can also attend the BKWSU Raja Yoga and Positive Thinking courses taking place during the year at Casa Sangam – these courses are held in both Italian and English. This is part of the programme of the BKWSU which presently offers a wide variety of educational programmes at its 8,000 centres in 106 countries worldwide.
